Money Was Never the Mission: The Day My Business Became a Vow
financial planning, retirement planning, fiduciary advice, estate planning, long-term care, wealth protection, and family legacy mean nothing if the plan fails when your family actually needs it.
When I entered this industry, I was told money was the mission.
I learned something very different.
Money is simply the tool.
The mission is protecting the people behind it.
In this episode of the Inheritance Series, I tell the story of why I built Crown Haven, why I refused to scale faster than our ability to care for families, and the moment my own family put everything we had built to the test.
My stepfather suffered a hemorrhagic stroke at 81.
The markets were falling. Inflation was surging. My mother was terrified. And sitting in a hospital conference room, his family asked a question no family should have to ask in that moment:
Do we have to sell the ranch?
We didn’t.
Because years earlier, we had built the structure before the crisis arrived.
Income. Liquidity. Healthcare. Taxes. Estate planning. Long-term care. Spousal protection.
That experience reminded me why this work matters.
Planning protects money.
Stewardship protects people.
And there is a massive difference between managing somebody’s portfolio and carrying responsibility for their family when life hits them in the face.
This is what real financial planning should look like.
